| Background | CTP synthase 2 (CTPS2) is a ~65 kDa protein. CTP synthase involved in the de novo synthesis of CTP, a precursor of DNA, RNA and phospholipids. Catalyzes the ATP-dependent amination of UTP to CTP with either L-glutamine or ammonia as a source of nitrogen. Constitutes the rate-limiting enzyme in the synthesis of cytosine nucleotides. 1. van Kuilenburg, AB. et al. (2000) Biochimica et biophysica acta 1492, 548-52. PMID: 10899599 2. Han, GS. et al.
