Background

Aldehyde dehydrogenase X, mitochondrial (ALDH1B1) is a ~57 kDa protein. ALDHs play a major role in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde. They are involved in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines, neurotransmitters, and lipid peroxidation.
