Background

Apoptosis regulator Bcl-2 homolog (A179L) is a ~21 kDa protein. Suppresses apoptosis in host cell to promote the viral replication. Has the ability to potentially bind to all the members of the proapoptotic Bcl-2 family. Inhibits autophagy by interacting with host Beclin 1 (BECN1).
