Background

Envelope glycoprotein D (gD/US6) is a ~43 kDa protein. Envelope glycoprotein that binds to the host cell entry receptors NECTIN1, NECTIN2 and TNFRSF14/HVEM, promoting the virus entry into host cells. May trigger fusion with host membrane, by recruiting the fusion machinery composed of gB and gH/gL.
