| Background | Broad substrate specificity ATP-binding cassette transporter ABCG2 (CD338) is a ~72 kDa protein. Broad substrate specificity ATP-dependent transporter of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) family that actively extrudes a wide variety of physiological compounds, dietary toxins and xenobiotics from cells. Involved in porphyrin homeostasis, mediating the export of protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) from both mitochondria to cytosol and cytosol to extracellular space, it also functions in the cellular export of heme. Also mediates the efflux of sphingosine-1-P from cells. Acts as a urate exporter functioning in both renal and extrarenal urate excretion. Flow-cytometry using anti-human CD338 antibody.MCF7 cells were stained with an irrelevant antibody (Blue Histogram) or an anti-human CD338 antibody monoclonal antibody (Catalog # HV314107 ,Green Histogram) at a concentration of 5 µg/ml for 30 mins at RT. After washing, bound antibody was detected using a FITC conjugated goat anti-mouse antibody (Catalog # MF690414) and cells analysed on a NovoCyte Flow Cytometer.
