| Background | Integrin alpha-5 (CD49e/ITGA5) is a ~114 kDa protein. Integrin alpha-5/beta-1 (ITGA5:ITGB1) is a receptor for fibronectin and fibrinogen. It recognizes the sequence R-G-D in its ligands. ITGA5:ITGB1 binds to PLA2G2A via a site (site 2) which is distinct from the classical ligand-binding site (site 1) and this induces integrin conformational changes and enhanced ligand binding to site 1. ITGA5:ITGB1 acts as a receptor for fibrillin-1 (FBN1) and mediates R-G-D-dependent cell adhesion to FBN1. ITGA5:ITGB1 acts as a receptor for fibronectin (FN1) and mediates R-G-D-dependent cell adhesion to FN1. 1. Saegusa, J. et al. (2008) The Journal of biological chemistry 283, 26107-15. | Note | For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.5 µg per million cells in 100 µL volume. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application. For research use only. |

Flow-cytometry using APC anti-human CD49e antibody. HUVEC cells were stained with an irrelevant antibody (Blue Histogram) or an APC anti-human CD49e monoclonal antibody (Catalog: HY464117, Yellow Histogram) at a concentration of 5 µg/ml for 30 mins at RT. After washing, cells analysed on a NovoCyte Flow Cytometer.
