Background

Gasdermin-C (GSDMC) is a ~57 kDa protein. This form constitutes the precursor of the pore-forming protein: upon cleavage, the released N-terminal moiety (Gasdermin-C, N-terminal) binds to membranes and forms pores, triggering pyroptosis.
