Background	Vimentin is a ~53 kDa protein. Vimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells, especially mesenchymal cells. Vimentin is attached to the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, either laterally or terminally. Plays a role in cell directional movement, orientation, cell sheet organization and Golgi complex polarization at the cell migration front. Protects SCRIB from proteasomal degradation and facilitates its localization to intermediate filaments in a cell contact-mediated manner. May promote axon outgrowth and motor fiber repair via DSP-mediated recruitment to outgrowth tips.

Flow Cytometry

Flow-cytometry using anti-human VIM antibody.VIM/Vimentin Transfected HI5 cells were stained with an irrelevant antibody (Blue Histogram) or an anti-human VIM antibody monoclonal antibody (Catalog # HY550107 ,Green Histogram) at a concentration of 5 µg/ml for 30 mins at RT. After washing, bound antibody was detected using a FITC conjugated goat anti-human antibody (Catalog # HF690414) and cells analysed on a NovoCyte Flow Cytometer.
