| Background | T-cell surface glycoprotein CD8 beta chain (CD8b/Lyt3) is a ~24 kDa protein. Integral membrane glycoprotein that plays an essential role in the immune response and serves multiple functions in responses against both external and internal offenses. In T-cells, functions primarily as a coreceptor for MHC class I molecule:peptide complex. The antigens presented by class I peptides are derived from cytosolic proteins while class II derived from extracellular proteins. Interacts simultaneously with the T-cell receptor (TCR) and the MHC class I proteins presented by antigen presenting cells (APCs). In turn, recruits the Src kinase LCK to the vicinity of the TCR-CD3 complex. |
| Note | For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.5 µg per million cells in 100 µL volume. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application. For research use only. |

Flow-cytometry using APC anti-Mouse CD8b antibody. Mouse spleen cells were stained with an irrelevant antibody (Green Histogram) or an APC anti-Mouse CD8b antibody monoclonal antibody (Catalog # MY433137 , Red Histogram) at a concentration of 5 µg/ml for 30 mins at RT. After washing, cells analysed on a NovoCyte Flow Cytometer.
