Background

Neurotoxin-1'' (AaH I/Neurotoxin I) is a ~9 kDa protein. Alpha toxins bind voltage-independently at site-3 of sodium channels (Nav) and inhibit the inactivation of the activated channels, thereby blocking neuronal transmission. Is active against mammals and binds with high affinity rat brain synaptosomes.
