Background

Pendrin (SLC26A4) is a ~85 kDa protein. Sodium-independent transporter of chloride and iodide. Mediates electroneutral chloride-bicarbonate, chloride-iodide and chloride-formate exchange with 1:1 stoichiometry. Mediates electroneutral iodide-bicarbonate exchange.
