Background

Vasopressin V2 receptor is a ~40 kDa protein. G-protein-coupled receptor for arginine vasopressin, an antidiuretic that promotes renal water reabsorption. Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of downstream effectors, such as adenylate cyclase (cAMP). AVPR2 is coupled to G(s) G alpha proteins and mediates activation of adenylate cyclase activity.
