| Alternate Names | Bifunctional epoxide hydrolase 2, CEH, Cytosolic epoxide hydrolase 2, EC:3.1.3.76, EC:3.3.2.10, EPHX2, Epoxide hydratase, Lipid-phosphate phosphatase, SEH, Soluble epoxide hydrolase |
| Background | Bifunctional epoxide hydrolase 2 is a ~62 kDa protein. Bifunctional enzyme. The C-terminal domain has epoxide hydrolase activity and acts on epoxides (alkene oxides, oxiranes) and arene oxides. Plays a role in xenobiotic metabolism by degrading potentially toxic epoxides. Also determines steady-state levels of physiological mediators. 1. Newman, JW. et al. (2003) Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America 100, 1558-63.
