Biological activity BTI-322 recognizes over 90% of E-rosette-forming peripheral blood lymphocytes and T-cell leukemias. BTI-322 has immunosuppressive activity. BTI-322 effectively inhibits T cell responses in vitro to allogeneic cells. BTI-322 can be used as a T-cell deplting agent. BTI-322 can be studied in research for renal allograft rejection and steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease [1] [2].

Background

T-cell surface antigen CD2 (LFA-2/OX-34) is a ~39 kDa protein. CD2 interacts with lymphocyte function-associated antigen CD58 (LFA-3) and CD48/BCM1 to mediate adhesion between T-cells and other cell types. CD2 is implicated in the triggering of T-cells, the cytoplasmic domain is implicated in the signaling function.
