Lymphoma & Leukemia Research: CD Markers, Phenotyping & Biosimilar Reference Antibodies

Release date: 2026-04-10  View count: 48

Hematologic malignancies — lymphomas and leukemias — are classified by immunophenotype, making antibody-based flow cytometry and IHC the cornerstone of diagnosis and disease monitoring. The extensive use of CD markers for disease classification means that high-quality, validated antibodies are essential research tools. For a broader view of all oncology reagent categories, see our Cancer Research Reagents hub.

Key Targets and Biomarkers

B cell lymphoma markers: CD20, CD19, CD22, CD79a (pan-B), CD10 (germinal center), BCL2, BCL6, MYC, Ki-67. The Hans algorithm (CD10, BCL6, MUM1/IRF4) classifies DLBCL into GCB and non-GCB subtypes by IHC. For diagnostic panel design guidance, see our IHC Panel Design guide.

Hodgkin lymphoma: CD30 (Reed-Sternberg cells), CD15, PAX5 (weak), CD45 (negative). Anti-CD30 ADC (brentuximab vedotin) validates CD30 as a therapeutic target.

AML markers: CD33, CD123, FLT3, NPM1, IDH1/2. CD33 is targeted by gemtuzumab ozogamicin (ADC) and bispecific T cell engagers. FLT3-ITD and FLT3-D835 mutations guide targeted therapy selection. The CD47/SIRPα axis is also a major therapeutic focus in AML.

CLL markers: CD5, CD19, CD23, CD20 (dim), CD200. ZAP-70 and CD38 expression predict prognosis. Research biosimilar rituximab and obinutuzumab are used in CLL preclinical research and PK/ADA assay development. For a detailed comparison of how research biosimilars differ from originator drugs, see our Biosimilar vs. Originator guide.

Flow cytometry panels for hematologic malignancies typically use 8–12 colors. abinScience offers conjugated antibodies in FITC, PE, APC, and PerCP formats for all major diagnostic markers. For proper gating with isotype and FMO controls, see our Isotype Controls in Flow Cytometry guide.
