Ischemic Stroke Research Reagents

Ischemic stroke results from cerebral artery occlusion, causing neuronal death through excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation within the ischemic penumbra. Beyond thrombolysis (tPA) and thrombectomy, neuroprotective strategies targeting post-ischemic inflammation, blood-brain barrier integrity, and neuroplasticity are under active investigation. Blood biomarkers (GFAP, S100B, NfL) are being developed for rapid stroke subtype differentiation.

Research Use Only (RUO)Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.

Key Research Targets

HMGB1 — HMGB1 is a damage-associated molecular pattern (DAMP) released from necrotic neurons after ischemia, driving post-stroke neuroinflammation via TLR4/RAGE signaling. Anti-HMGB1 antibodies support DAMP signaling studies and neuroprotection research.

MMP-9 — MMP-9 degrades basal lamina and tight junction proteins, mediating blood-brain barrier breakdown and hemorrhagic transformation after ischemia. Anti-MMP-9 antibodies enable BBB integrity studies and thrombolysis complication research.

GFAP — Serum GFAP differentiates hemorrhagic from ischemic stroke within the acute time window. Anti-GFAP antibodies support rapid diagnostic assay development and astrocyte injury quantification.
→ Browse GFAP antibodies & ELISA kits

NfL (Neurofilament Light Chain) — Serum NfL rises within days after stroke onset and correlates with infarct volume and functional outcome. Anti-NfL antibodies support prognostic biomarker assay development.
