Description

The abinScience Tricolor Prestained Protein Marker is a ready-to-use mixture of nine (9) prestained proteins with apparent molecular weights ranging from 10 to 250 kDa. Three distinct colors — blue, orange, and green — enable rapid band identification on SDS-PAGE gels and easy monitoring of Western blot transfer efficiency. The marker is supplied in a ready-to-use format: simply load directly onto the gel with no heating, reduction, or addition of sample buffer required. Compatible with standard SDS-PAGE, Bis-Tris, Tris-Glycine, and Tris-Acetate gel systems. Detectable by colorimetric, NIR fluorescence (700 nm), and RGB fluorescence (555 nm) methods.

ApplicationsSDS-PAGE, Western Blot (WB)
Observed Molecular Weight 250, 130, 100, 70, 55, 35, 25, 15, 10 kDa
Form Liquid
Storage buffer 62.5 mM Tris-H₃PO₄ (pH 7.5 at 25°C), 1 mM EDTA, 2% SDS, 10 mM DTT, 1 mM NaN₃, 33% Glycerol

Please refer to the specific buffer information in the hardcopy of datasheet or the lot-specific COA.

Detection method Colorimetric, NIR Fluorescence (700 nm), RGB Fluorescence (555 nm)
Properties Ready-to-use prestained protein molecular weight standard for SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Nine color-coded bands allow instant visual identification of molecular weight range during electrophoresis and real-time monitoring of protein transfer to membranes. Three reference bands (70 kDa — orange; 25 kDa — green; others — blue) serve as orientation markers.
Shipping Ship on wet ice or dry ice
Product Usage Information
Application Dilution
Load 5 μL per lane for standard mini-gel (0.75–1.0 mm thickness). For large-format gels, use 10–15 μL per lane. Load directly — no heating, reduction, or sample buffer addition required. Apparent molecular weights are determined under standard SDS-PAGE (Tris-Glycine) conditions and may vary slightly depending on gel chemistry and running conditions.
Stability and Storage Store at -20°C upon receipt. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Stable for up to 12 months when stored as directed.

Background

Prestained protein markers are indispensable tools in protein electrophoresis and Western blotting workflows. By providing visible molecular weight references directly on the gel and membrane, they eliminate the need for post-run staining of the marker lane and enable real-time monitoring of electrophoretic separation and transfer efficiency. Tricolor markers with distinct chromatic bands further accelerate band identification, reducing the risk of misinterpreting molecular weight estimates. The 10–250 kDa range covers the vast majority of commonly studied proteins, making this marker suitable for routine laboratory use across diverse research applications.
