| Background | Guanylyl cyclase C (GUCY2C/GCC) is a ~123 kDa protein. Guanylyl cyclase that catalyzes synthesis of cyclic GMP (cGMP) from GTP. Receptor for the E.coli heat-stable enterotoxin; E.coli enterotoxin markedly stimulates the accumulation of cGMP in mammalian cells expressing GUCY2C. Also activated by the endogenous peptides guanylin and uroguanylin. 1. Scott, RO. et al. (2002) The Journal of biological chemistry 277, 22934-41. PMID: 11950846 2. Singh, S. et al.
