Background

Small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO-tag) is a ~11 kDa protein. Ubiquitin-like protein that can be covalently attached to proteins as a monomer or a lysine-linked polymer. Sumoylation, the attachment of SUMO to target proteins, regulates multiple cellular events.
