| Background | Uricase is a ~34 kDa protein. Urate oxidase is a cofactorless enzyme involved in the metabolism of purines (PubMed:1339455, PubMed:17020862, PubMed:28272834, Ref.3). Catalyzes, in the presence of molecular oxygen, the hydroxylation of uric acid to metastable 5-hydroxyisourate (5-HIU) which is further degraded to allantoin. 1. Legoux, R. et al.
