| Alternate Names | Alpha-(1,6)-fucosyltransferase, Alpha1-6FucT, EC:2.4.1.68, FUT8, Fucosyltransferase 8, GDP-L-Fuc:N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminide alpha1,6-fucosyltransferase, GDP-fucose--glycoprotein fucosyltransferase, Glycoprotein 6-alpha-L-fucosyltransferase |
| Background | Alpha-(1,6)-fucosyltransferase is a ~66 kDa protein. Catalyzes the addition of fucose in alpha 1-6 linkage to the first GlcNAc residue, next to the peptide chains in N-glycans. Fucosylates the reducing GlcNAc residue in complex-type N-glycans attached on the fragment crystallizable (Fc) of IgGs. Fully converts Fc glycoforms containing one or two terminal GlcNAc moieties (G0-GlcNAc and G0). 1. Ihara, H. et al. (2007) Glycobiology 17, 455-66. PMID: 17172260 2. Ng, BG. et al.
