OMIP Panel Reviews

We maintain detailed reviews of 29 published OMIP panels (OMIP-001 through OMIP-029), covering T cell, B cell, NK cell, myeloid, and Treg phenotyping. Each review maps the panel's antibody targets to abinScience catalog products. Browse the full series in the articles below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Isotype control vs FMO control: which should I use?
For most multicolor panels (4+ colors), FMO controls are more informative than isotype controls because they account for spectral spillover from other channels. Isotype controls remain useful for single-color surface staining and for validating that Fc-mediated background is controlled. In practice, use both: isotype controls during assay development to confirm antibody specificity, and FMO controls during acquisition to set accurate gates.

How do I choose the right fluorochrome for my panel?
Match fluorochrome brightness to antigen expression level: bright dyes (PE, APC) for dim targets, dimmer dyes (FITC, PerCP) for abundant targets. Minimize spectral overlap between channels that will be used to resolve critical populations. Our panel design guide walks through fluorochrome assignment step by step, and our spectral graph guide explains how to read emission spectra for overlap assessment.
